Donald Robertson was convicted of the murder of Shani Warren 26.

Shani Warren was found dead in Taplow Lake, Buckinghamshire, in April 1987.

It was initially suggested that she had gagged herself, tied her feet with rope, then tied her hands behind her back and hobbled to the lake on stiletto heels to drown herself. She had been bound with a car jump-lead and had also been gagged with a piece of cloth and her ankles bound with a tow rope.

Her cause of death was given as drowning.

It was later said that a man that had been jailed in 1999 for a series of rapes was the main suspect although he was not the man later arrested in 2021.

Shani Warren had been a secretary and the daughter of a millionaire. She was last seen when she drove off drom her parents houe in Gerrards Cross to disose of some grass cuttings.

Donald Robertson, who used to live in Slough, was arrested for her murder on 22 June 2021 and later charged with her murder on 26 November 2021. His DNA was found in her underwear as well as on the gag that was in her mouth.

He was also convicted of the kidnapped and rape of a 16-year-old girl who he attacked in 1981.

He was also convicted of false imprisonment and indecent assault with respect to Shani Warren.

Donald Robertson was described as a serial rapist, it being noted that he had been arrested in connection with the rape of the 16-year-old girl shortly after the incident in 1981 but released due to lack of evidence. However, it was noted that a few days after he raped a 14-year-old girl although he was convicted of that offence in October 1981.

About two months after he murdered Shani Warren he raped a 17-year-old girl who had missed her last train and had been walking home a few miles from Taplow Lake. He was convicted of that offence in 2010.

He had also been convicted of burglary with intent to commit rape, and the kidnap of a woman in April 1990.
